Things I did today

This is a list of things I did today:

  1. I got up just barely in time to go and see Forbidden Planet at the Central Library (ooh, look! Wikipedia article). Well, okay. Woke *up* well on time, but then lazed around in bed for an hour, almost, 'cos I felt like it. It all worked out -- I was only ten minutes late -- and the eight hours of sleep I got yesterday night were delicious.
  2. I saw the aforementioned movie, which was fun in a 1950s sort of way (and seeing Leslie Neilson in a serious role was pretty funny, too). Very "Tempest"-like, as promised. But kinda cool how all these other books I've read and liked -- Congo, Sphere -- were all "in there somewhere". Not to mention about half a season of Star Trek. And the acting wasn't too bad neither ... (well, if you happen to like Star Trek, which, of course, I do).
  3. Biked all the way to Orchard and back again. In a display of convincing not seen since Moses talked the Israelites into "walk out on the Pharoah, it'll be cool. He won't be mad", I talked Gerard and Ifty into cycling along. They will probably hate me for the rest of my life :P. Trip to Orchard was fine, trip back ended up getting completely detoured (picture this: from Orchard to Suntec, Suntec to Lo Pah Sat, LPS to Telok Blangah and finally up from Pasir Panjang. Oof!) As I write this, my legs are cramping. I never actually made it to Suntec, getting off early and slightly confused. Am much impressed with myself for "rediscovering" the South Bridge Road -- Maxwell Road entry into Loh Pah Sat to meet up with the G&I. I had a blast, although Telok Blangah at night was one long lonely. But fun!
  4. At Orchard, bought a First Folio edition version of the Tempest for 25$. Pricey! But it's so beautiful to be able to read Shakespeare as he wrote it! The words flow so much nicer .. plus, I figure I could do with ANY help to get "inspired" to re-read Tempest all over again ...
  5. Now: homewards. To sleep, perchance to dream (in any case: a gloriouslongshower, and if all else fails, to write!). I might have been tempted to cycle (after hanging around here late into the night!) but should really bus. Except that NOW I'm just horribly tempted to just take a cab. Sigh!
  6. Just this once, I shall give in to temptation. Mmmm, tempty!

No, I do, really

I really, really have to make a big friggin' deal about the fact that Shiv Chadha's prediction (or was it mine?) did really come true after all. Twelve-fourteen years late, but hey, that's visionary for you.
