My appreciation for Linux just grows and grows.
Methuselah is finally born; although I'd planned on keeping him as a simple fileserver, 'tis obvious that with his MUCH faster hard-disk, it would make a lot more sense to make him do much, much more; I'll wait and see how the monitor's issues works out.
For better or for worse, I basically installed an Ubuntu, and then manually upgraded it to debian by replacing ubuntu's sources.list with Debian's, and doing a dist-upgrade.
So it goes.
