This can usually be found on Twitter.
Since I needs must write a blog post (because of the twin pressures of request and competition, as also a certain need to express myself in writing; that I am waiting for an e-mail of much importance also contributes to this need certainly), but ...
Good heavens.
I have to write. This is a need. I need to write, I feel it within me. I want to write, writing can be fun. But I also must write; I've been told to, and both my blog-friends are going at it, so I would feel both left out and a disappointment if I didn't. So here goes.
(Ah, much better. Go on.)
Oh my, the GRE draws near! It's going to (hopefully) be crazy for a while to come. My birthday comes too, this Friday - once in four years, but what can you do? I've also maybe got to perhaps starting thinking about well my err driving lessons, actually, although there's a good chance that's going to be pushed into the future. I might also be buying the camera-of-my-dreams next month perhaps maybe depending. My cousin brother is to be married at the end of April, if all goes according to plan etc. I had a rather strange dream last night; I can't be sure, but I think Michael Caine (sorry, Sir Mich. Cai.) wanted to beat me up. Nfznu was there, too, as a sort of narrator/guide type person thing, although I notice not doing much to stave off Sir Michael. Still, strange non-depressing dreams are probably the best, so I'm not complaining.
I deliberately (and quite cunningly, I should think!) did very little over the weekend, besides lying around and watching television and the occasional DVD (I saw I Not Stupid, which was a lot better than I expected! The first 30-50% was typical Singaporean farce/satire, but somewhere along the line it picked up heart and went with it, and you ended up feeling for the characters, which was nice). What this means is that I will have to do a lot more work after-hours on all matter of financial, emotional, economical, programmable and game-related madness. Oh, and the laundry, of course. There's always the dratted laundry.
Oh, quick additional: I spent last afternoon playing around with Adobe Lightroom, and had tons of fun with it. I put some of the processed photos online, so let me know what you think.
Goodbye, fair blog reader; fair blog reader, good bye.

The good news: today's Civ4 game is going a lot better than yesterdays! My assault on Montezuma and his hordes went a lot better today, results in the complete destruction of his civilization in the late middle ages (when technological limitations had kept him back in the early middle ages, which made my job easier! Unfortunately, I had no horses anywhere in my land, which is exactly why I had to land-grab Montezuma's area, so my only real advantage was an absolute barrage of elephants, which still took a while to grab anything).
The year 1700 just went by. I have risen from being a middling Civilization to into the top three, by points; I'm the largest Civilization by land (having grabbed the Aztecs'). By power, I'm still vaguely middling; I build up reserve troops occasionally, but in a very haphazard manner.
International relations have gotten worse, either through jealousies or general tensions. My neighbours aren't doing so well: Persia is being rapidly and ravenously devoured by France, the most powerful nation in the world. It's salami tactics: a quick tussle, a city grabbed, a city lost, a city recovered; and then peace breaks out again. Persia is down to three cities! Mali is doing reasonably well, but also has pressure. Earlier, Persia and Mali were "fronting" for me with France - however hostile they got (it took a lot of placating to ensure that war never broke out between us), I knew it would be hard for them to attack me directly because Mali and Persia completely blocked France from me, preventing him from getting at me. I'm not being so nice (French soldiers can cross my borders to get at the Mali all they want, for now). And as if all that isn't worrying enough, the Mongolians are getting angrier and angrier at me, and they're probably the most powerful naval power at the moment. Most of my army is towards the interior, and I have no navy to speak of: if they invade, I'm going to get very, very angry. I should probably build up my navy to prevent this.
And should I attack France at some point of time? Not unless Mongolia is off my back, I guess. Let's see!
Random haiku I liked off of Slashdot, ostensibly by Matsuo Bashō:
will you turn toward me?
I am lonely too,
this autumn nightfall
Good night, everybody; everybody, good night. (But not me; I'm going to get something to eat now, and then maybe laze around until 3 or thereabouts ...)

Just saw The Life and Death of Peter Sellers on DVD just now. Good movie? Bad movie? Hard to tell - I roughly agree with a review I saw at the IMDb (which I can't find now, dagnabit), which said that it wasn't that great a movie, but it was competently done and seemed to do a good job of bringing Mr. Sellers to life.
But, oh man. Oh the loneliness. You end up feeling all the wretchedness and sadness and ... tinyness, I guess, maybe. One of the cunning tricks the movie - and I do wish (as usual) that they'd left the deleted scenes in! - played was by simply not letting you care about anybody other than Peter. The narcissism - and the sincere inability to deal with others - is palpable.
Listening to the Goons also gives you a bit more perspective on the lines: there's a scene where Peter is standing at the top of a staircase at the premiere of The Revenge of the Pink Panther (I think?), and he says something like "Thank you for coming, everybody" - as Bluebottle!
But I also agree that a movie about Peter Sellers' life ought to have been a bit funnier. Ah well, ah well - after long chats with several (i.e. more than one) friends online, I'm feeling a bit more prepped on life. So: do I admit it's getting better? Not unless my war-mongering skills on Civilization 4 don't improve!

It's late, I'm sleepy, and I'm hoping to have a relatively early day tomorrow, so humour a lack of content in this post, please. In fact, I only write to note three things:
Alright, chaps, hitting the hay now. This is going to be a good weekend, since I'm going to get to go and check out that huge, green space I found last time, and hopefully take some photos to replace the ones I deleted (it's the same link as before, sorry!). I'm also going to go to Page One at VivoCity, so I get to buy my GRE Biology prep book (from Princeton Review, natch). Unless they don't have it, in which case I'll probably be running around town all day.
Alright, before Safari crashes again - good night, folks!

So, managed to go on a nice, long walk again last time - not as long as last time, though, because I went out a whole lot later (last week was about 10kms, this week is 8.746 km, according to Google Earth and the Path Measurement Tool. It was a most satisfying walk, because:
Alas, it all ended kind of badly, as I accidentally deleted all the photographs I took on the walk, and later developed a rather nasty stomach upset which took until Thursday (the day I'm editing this) to get rid of, and necessitated a very pointless trip to the doctor's. Nasty, nasty.
So. That's about it for now, I think.
